About Adam Heleniak
Adam is a design leader for companies with complex or technical products, focusing on discovery, product and design. He helps teams build the right things, and build them well. Since November 2025 he has been Lead Product Designer at Alfa Laval, in the Automation Development team behind the software operators use to run the company’s industrial machines.
He has worked across a wide range of industries: hearing aids at GN ReSound and Oticon, water and environment engineering software at DHI, and virtual waiting rooms at Queue-it. Most of these were engineering-first organisations where design was new. He built and led design and research teams at DHI and Queue-it, with more than six years of team leadership behind him.
His work centres on testing risky assumptions before teams commit to building, auditing how products work for the people using them, and coaching designers and teams towards better ways of working. From 2021 to 2026 he was also an external lecturer at the IT University of Copenhagen, where he taught UI design, gave guest lectures on user research and usability testing, and supervised BSc theses. He holds a degree from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
About Alfa Laval
Alfa Laval is a Swedish industrial company whose history dates back to 1878, when Gustaf de Laval patented a milk separator. Today it is a world leader in three key technologies: heat transfer, separation and fluid handling. Its equipment includes separators, heat exchangers and pumps.
Its products are used in industries such as energy, marine, food and water, helping customers use energy, water and raw materials more efficiently. Alfa Laval increasingly pairs its machines with software and automation that operators use to monitor and run them.
