About Marta Suslow

Marta is a senior product manager with more than ten years of experience building physical and digital products, from zero-to-one concepts through to global launch.

At tonies, she leads the Book Tonies and Pocket Tonies lines within the company's largest revenue category, owning format strategy and go-to-market across six markets with more than 35 cross-functional partners. She also mapped how children and parents move from the physical product into the tonies app, and defined the three-year roadmap for the portfolio aimed at children aged 3 and up.

Her path into product management is anything but conventional. Marta spent over five years in research and development, working with engineers and chemists on biopolymers, recycling and 3D printing, including packaging work at Beiersdorf, where her projects included NIVEA's first refill station. She studied at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London, where her team worked with the United Nations on a platform prototype later presented at COP28. Before tonies, she shaped API-based insurance products as a product owner and service designer at SAP Fioneer, followed by a product role at Bosch.

Marta is known for working at the point where hardware, software and content constraints collide, bringing design, engineering, research and commercial teams together around clear product decisions. Alongside her role at tonies, she mentors students on Stanford University's CS177 Human-Centered Product Management course.

About tonies

Tonies is the company behind the Toniebox, a screen-free audio player for children that plays stories, songs and learning content when a figurine, a Tonie, is placed on top. It was founded in Düsseldorf in 2013 by two fathers, Patric Faßbender and Marcus Stahl, who wanted a child-friendly alternative to scratched CDs and complicated players. The first Toniebox launched in 2016, and licensing deals with partners such as Disney, Penguin Random House and DreamWorks have since built a large library of well-known characters and stories.

The company has grown from a Düsseldorf start-up into an international business, expanding into the UK, the United States, France, and Australia and New Zealand. It has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange as tonies SE since 2021 and employs around 650 people. In 2025 it launched the Toniebox 2 together with Tonieplay, a screen-free interactive format where children use a controller to decide what happens next in the story.
