About Nik Honeysett

Honeysett is CEO of the Balboa Park Online Collaborative, a technology non-profit consultancy that provides support, development and strategy for the museums in Balboa Park, San Diego and beyond. Previously, he was Head of Administration for the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, administrating at the Museum’s two campuses in Brentwood and Malibu. Formerly, he lead the Getty's Web Group and before moving to Los Angeles, he was Head of Production at Cogapp, a UK-based consultancy specializing in interactive and online multimedia for the cultural sector in Europe and the USA. He currently sits on the boards of the American Alliance of Museums and MCN (Museum Computer Network), and teaches a course on the culture and management of museum technology through Johns Hopkins’ Museum Studies Masters Program.

Balboa Park Online Collaborative’s mission is to: - Facilitate and execute a fundamental change in the way museums, cultural arts and science institutions in Balboa Park approach the use of online technology by making online technology an integral part of the way the institutions fulfill their missions, interact with patrons, and collaborate; - To improve their technology capabilities while reducing costs by bringing organizations with similar needs together on mutually beneficial projects; and - To allow smaller institutions the benefit of having technology systems of the same quality as larger organizations, who in turn benefit from streamlined expenditures.
