About Sarah Tan

Sarah is Head of Product at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where she leads a small cross-functional team improving the digital experiences of students and staff as they navigate the university. She works mainly with purpose-driven organisations, using technology to help them deliver their mission more effectively and at scale.

She joined LSE in 2020 as Digital Product Lead, running product for its student app. The app helps 12,000 undergraduates and postgraduates spend less time dealing with the institution and more time on their studies and student life. Alongside that, she worked as a freelance product consultant for Walking on Earth, keeping its product on track through a change of development agency two months before launch.

Before LSE, Sarah was Head of Operations at Makers, the coding bootcamp, where she sat on the senior leadership team, ran quarterly OKR sessions and stepped in as interim Head of People. Earlier, as Head of Digital at Ada, the National College for Digital Skills, she led digital transformation projects spanning GDPR, online learning partnerships and government grants. She holds an MBA from Cambridge Judge Business School and was one of 21 MBA interns selected across Google EMEA.

About London School of Economics and Political Science

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is a specialist social science university in central London, founded in 1895 by four Fabian Society members, among them Sidney and Beatrice Webb. From its first intake of 300 students, it welcomed both women and men and students from overseas. It remains one of the most international universities in the world, with a student body and staff drawn from well over 100 countries.

LSE's research and teaching cover economics, politics, law, sociology and related fields, with a stated purpose of investigating, understanding and influencing the key debates facing global society. Its community has produced 21 Nobel Prizes in Peace, Economics and Literature, along with dozens of world leaders. Since 2024 the university has been led by Professor Larry Kramer, its 18th President and Vice Chancellor.
