About SKAT
SKAT (Skatteforvaltningen, the Danish Tax Agency) is the government body responsible for administering taxation in Denmark, serving millions of citizens and businesses each year. It oversees everything from income tax and VAT to customs and debt collection, playing a central role in funding the Danish welfare state.
To make tax administration more accessible and efficient, SKAT has invested heavily in digital self-service platforms such as Skat.dk, TastSelv Borger, and TastSelv Erhverv, allowing citizens and businesses to manage their tax affairs online. These platforms handle enormous volumes of use, making user experience, accessibility, and clarity essential — work that requires close collaboration between tax specialists, developers, and UX researchers to keep Denmark's tax system simple and usable for everyone.
