About Vitaly Friedman
Vitaly Friedman is a UX lead and consultant with more than 20 years of experience helping mid-size and large organizations improve the clarity, accessibility, performance, and conversion of their digital interfaces. He currently serves as Senior UX Advisor to the European Parliament, and has worked with organizations including OTTO, Zalando, Marc O'Polo, Axel Springer SE, REWE Digital, and Alliander.
In 2006, Vitaly founded Smashing Magazine, which has since grown into one of the most widely read online publications for designers and developers. He is the author, co-author, and editor of all Smashing books, and curates the Smashing Conferences series held in cities including San Francisco, New York, and Freiburg. His work has taken him from interface design through front-end development and performance optimization to accessibility, before returning to a primary focus on UX.
Vitaly is also the creator of several ongoing video-course libraries, including "Smart Interface Design Patterns," "How To Measure UX and Design Impact," and, most recently, "Design Patterns for AI Interfaces," each paired with a live UX training held twice a year. He regularly writes, speaks, and runs workshops on solving complex UX, front-end, and performance challenges.
