Design Leadership

What if you could benefit from the expertise of your peers and find new ways to handle your challenges? While at the same time being a part of a bigger network of design leaders?

The aim of the design groups is to empower your work and your projects by providing you with thought-provoking inspiration, insights and new tools.

But also giving you the opportunity to seek advice from your peers and guest experts on your projects and day to day work; so you can steer clear of mistakes that other design leaders have already made.

After each meeting, you receive meeting notes. You also get access to an online forum for members to continue the conversations in between the meetings. There are expert guest speakers at most meetings to provide further input to the group. Guest speakers could be relevant customer cases, analysts or experts.

Find your group

Not every design career looks the same — so we've split the community into four groups, each built around a different way of working with design. Find the one that matches where you are, and see what's coming up.

1. UX Research

For people working solely with research, customer insights, and the methods that uncover what users actually need. This group is for practitioners who live in discovery — interviews, testing, insight synthesis — and want to compare approaches with others doing the same kind of work.

Upcoming meetings

2. Practitioners

For people working hands-on with UX and UI, as well as strategy — the ones actually building the products, not just directing them. The focus here is operational: real projects, real trade-offs, and the day-to-day decisions that shape good design work.

Upcoming meetings

3. Design Leaders

Typically for people with management responsibility over UX'ers, or those with very high seniority in the field. Conversations here center on leading teams, setting design strategy, and the organizational challenges that come with owning design at scale.

Upcoming meetings

  • September 1, Aarhus

  • October 13, Toronto

  • November 5, Aarhus (co-located with Boye Aarhus 26 conference)

  • November 26, Hamburg (Annual Collaboration Meeting)

4. Design Tech

Exploring the space between design, business, and AI. For people navigating how emerging technology is reshaping design practice, and what that means for the products and teams they're responsible for.

Upcoming meetings

  • November 25, Aarhus

Group leaders

The Danish UX group is moderated by User Experience Specialist at VIA University College, Kristina Larsen. Kristina is a regular at the Boye conferences, where she has led the UX and design tracks for several years.

Being in the field of UX for more than 15 years, Thorsten Jonas builds up UX Teams and leads clients to create meaningful digital products, platforms and experiences.

He’s widely known for his work on sustainability and is the founder of the Sustainable UX Network.

Thorsten leads our Hamburg chapter that we launched in 2023.

Peter Dahlstrøm Andersen brings over 20 years in the digital sandbox to his work as Director of Strategy & Partnerships at Boye & Company, cutting through buzzwords to turn complex tech into real business value.

He's based near Aarhus and leads the Design Leadership and Design Tech groups, occasionally joining UX Research sessions as well.

  • 1 year membership at CAD 2,520 / DKK 12.995 / EUR 1,750

The skills behind all four groups

Whichever group you join, sessions pull from the same broad toolbox — because good design leadership means combining these skills strategically, not mastering just one. Across UX Research, Practitioners, Design Leaders, and Design Tech, expect topics like:

  • Accessibility and inclusive design

  • Building environmentally sustainable websites through UX exercises

  • Building the winning design team

  • Designing new concepts

  • Digital innovation

  • How to communicate ideas

  • Using data strategically

  • Working with DesignOps
