About June Shannon
June Shannon is a Digital Content Creator at the University of Limerick and a member of the University's expert Web Team, which led the recent extensive redesign of the UL website. In her role, she develops accessible, user-centred web content, collaborates with web editors across the University, and supports colleagues in creating clear, engaging, and inclusive digital communications that meet the needs of diverse audiences.
Before joining UL, June built an extensive career in medical journalism and specialist healthcare reporting in Ireland. She covered a broad range of topics, including medical news, health policy, medical education, clinical practice, and research. Her work has been driven by a particular interest in health equity, mental health, and the experiences of socially excluded groups, including people experiencing homelessness.
Her previous roles include Digital Health Journalist at the Irish Heart Foundation and Deputy Editor, Clinical Editor, and News Reporter at Irish Medical Times. Throughout her career, she has developed a strong reputation for translating complex clinical, scientific, and policy developments into clear, accessible content for both professional and public audiences.
