About Samantha Fanning
Having managed a range of complex information and transactional (award-winning) websites and apps for way more years than she's comfortable admitting, Samantha loves what she does. As Director of Digital Experience at UCL, she's responsible for content, design, UX, and insight, managing related digital technologies and processes, and rolling out new products and replatforms.
Samantha has spent nearly 8 years at UCL, first as Head of Digital Experience leading the content, design, UX, and web and app development teams, and now as Director overseeing the university's broader digital experience service. Before UCL, she was Head of Digital at St John Ambulance, where she delivered on the organisation's digital ambitions, re-platformed its main sites, refreshed its online brand, and built a core team with new processes for improvement. Earlier in her career, she worked as Web Manager at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
About UCL
Founded in 1826, UCL was the first university in England to welcome students of any religion or social background, and the first to welcome women to university education. Today it's a world top-ten university in the heart of London, bringing together more than 18,000 staff and 51,000 students from over 150 countries across 11 academic faculties spanning the arts, sciences, technology, and humanities.
UCL has nurtured the winners of 33 Nobel Prizes, alongside six Turner Prizes and three Fields Medals, and continues to rank among the world's leading research universities. Its mission centres on transforming how we understand the world, how knowledge is created, and how real-world problems are solved - all from a campus at the heart of London's Knowledge Quarter.
