Cambridge Summit 26

As per the excellent tradition we started in 2022, we're back in Cambridge on Tuesday, October 27 for a good day of learning and networking together.

The shape of the day is: sessions from digital leaders in the morning and afternoon, an informal get-together with food and drinks and as a final element we watch a film together as part of the Cambridge Film Festival.

As Simon Jones, Managing Director at Studio 24, said about last year’s summit:

“It’s always an engaging, fascinating day talking to other digital leaders about how to do our work better, often with an angle on how we can do good for society and the planet.”

Programme

Three parts to the day. Join one, two, or all three — you'll tell us which when you register. The programme below is still taking shape. Consider it a work in progress, and check back as speakers and sessions are confirmed.

9:30 - 15:45 The sessions

Talks and discussions from digital leaders on the challenges we're all working through right now — much like the mix of talks on AI, sustainability, governance and design that filled the room last year.

16:00 - 18:00 Informal get-together & dinner

No agenda for this part — just dinner, a drink, and the conversations that don't fit into a session slot.

18:00 - 20:00 Gala evening

We'll join Studio 24's gala evening in the bar at t Arts Picturehouse Cinema around 6-6.30pm for drinks, and then make our way up to the screen to start the film at 8pm. 

20:00 - 22:00 The movie

We'll close the day by watching a movie together at the Cambridge Film Festival, where our host Simon Jones sits on the Board of Trustees. The film of this year is Mouse - a coming-of-age story about friendship, class and finding your own voice.

Our friends at Studio 24, a digital design and technology agency in the heart of Cambridge, host our evening at the Cambridge Film Festival — where Studio 24's Simon Jones serves on the Board of Trustees.

The sessions take place with the University of Cambridge, who've generously hosted us in past years — full venue details to follow as they're confirmed.

What to expect

It’s a full day of sessions bringing together digital leaders to share experiences and learn from each other.

Last year, Paul Jervis Heath opened with 18th-century monks and early electricity experiments on his way into a talk on design process in the age of AI — including a distinction between modal and procedural thinking that a lot of us are still chewing on. Emma Horrell, from University of Edinburgh, shared her team's approach to digital sustainability, tracking just two numbers — page weight and carbon emissions per page — while Barney Brown covered auditing cookie consent across a thousand-odd university websites, and Johanna Halfmann ran a workshop on what "product success" actually means.
